• Most commercial land development occurs around the Westview area, especially on Joyce and Marine Avenues. There is ample fully serviced land in and around the commercial core suitable for redevelopment.
• There is land available for industrial development, especially around the municipal airport.
• A completed OCP (Official Community Plan) was completed in 1996, giving guidance and direction to all subsequent development of the region
• Powell River's General Hospital was recently rebuilt and upgraded in 1993. There is capacity for up to 80 acute care beds and three operating rooms and a hydrotherapy pool make it a good draw for both families and seniors in today's environment of aging equipment and demands on the health care system.
• There are 11 schools in the Powell River district covering elementary, middle and secondary education, including a French language school.
• First and second year university transfer courses are available through Malaspina University-College's Powell River satellite campus, as well as the innovative Professional Cook Training program and other technical/trades related courses.
